A fire that started early on Saturday morning at Naria Bazar Bridge Road destroyed six stores.

Locals and police report that the fire was discovered between Mahiya Electronics and Babul Electronics at about five in the morning. The wildfire quickly extended to the surrounding stores.

The victims stated that the fire caused damages of over Tk 2 crore. It took some time to determine what started the fire.

After two hours of work, the crew from Naria Fire Service was able to put out the fire, according to Habibur Rahman, the fire station's in-charge.

At first, it was thought that an electrical short circuit had started the fire. However, he added, it was unclear which store the fire started.

He said, "More information will be made public once the investigation is complete."

"On behalf of the upazila administration, we are beside the affected traders," stated Shankar Choindra Baidya, Naria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).

The Shariatpur-2 constituency legislator, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, sent his sincere condolences to the businesspeople impacted by the fire and pledged to support those in need.
