Tangail, July 15 (V7N)- In a tragic road accident in Golabari, Madhupur Upazila, Tangail, one person was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a Binimoy Transport bus and a CNG auto-rickshaw. Local residents rescued the injured and sent them to the Madhupur Upazila Health Complex.
The fatal accident occurred on Monday (July 15) in the afternoon, west of the Golabari bus stand, near a rice mill.
The deceased, Anwar Hossain, was the son of Haji Shukur Mia from Ghaotal village in Mirzapur Upazila, Tangail district.
The deceased's wife, Shahana Parveen, recounted that around 10:30 in the morning, they were traveling from her father's house to her husband's home in Mirzapur by CNG auto-rickshaw, accompanied by her younger sister and her sister's 7-year-old son.
She further explained that just before reaching Golabari, a Binimoy Transport bus from Madhupur collided head-on with their CNG auto-rickshaw.
During the collision, her husband was thrown out of the CNG onto the road, and the speeding bus ran over him, she added.
Following the incident, local residents blocked the road, demanding the closure of the Binimoy Transport service, which they held responsible for repeated road accidents.
Madhupur police station's Sub-Inspector (SI) Rezaul Karim reported that he arrived at the scene immediately after being informed and recovered the body, bringing it to the police station. The offending bus was seized in the Bhaighat area.
