Kurigram, Sep 15 (V7N) - A young man has gone missing after a boat capsized in Kurigram’s Roumari upazila. While one person was rescued, 18-year-old Shah Alam remains unaccounted for.
 
The incident took place on Sunday (September 15) in the Holholia River, a branch of the Brahmaputra, within the Roumari upazila. Shah Alam, hailing from Sakhhipur in Gazipur, had come to visit his maternal grandparents in the Khenar Char area of Roumari along with his cousin Sajib.
 
Locals reported that Shah Alam and Sajib were boating on a small dinghy around the char. On their way back, the boat capsized in the Holholia River. While Sajib was rescued, Shah Alam has been missing since the accident. Upon receiving the news, fire service units from Roumari and Jamalpur were dispatched and are currently conducting a search operation.
 
Abdul Alim, the leader of the Roumari Fire Service, confirmed the incident, stating, "We are actively searching for the missing youth in the river."
 
Roumari Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mortuza said, "A boat capsize occurred in the Holholia River. While one person was rescued alive, another remains missing."
