Strawberry fruit was cultivated on two bighas of land that Dalim, son of Yunus Ali of Rajnagar Hungami village in Shibganj upazila Chapainawabganj district in Bangladesh, leased from Jagannathpur Field. The production of strawberries has now piqued the curiosity of many individuals in the region he oversaw.

There are rows of strawberry planted trees visible as approaches his strawberry farm. Every tree has an abundance of strawberries hanging from it. Occasionally, the tree hangs two or four ripe strawberries. The strawberries on the tree are not completed even if you harvest them and sell them for two months.

Growing strawberries was Dalim's source of income in Rajnagar Hangami village, Shibganj upazila. On two bighas, he has planted strawberries. He began growing strawberries on one bigha of land a few years ago after gathering seeds of high-quality types. Then gradually increased the amount of land.

Dalim, a strawberry farmer said, that growing strawberries is more profitable than growing other crops. Following that, I planted more strawberries on a bigha of land.

I earn 4 lakhs from 60 percent of the land after deducting the expenses. In total, I have cultivated strawberries in my two bigha land. Two and a half lakh rupees have been spent. My strawberries can be sold for Tk 1,200-1,500 in Dhaka. Of course, retailers are selling strawberries at Tk 250 to Tk 300 per kg.

He also said that strawberries can be obtained from strawberry plants for about 3 months. In three months he can sell strawberries worth 7 to 8 lakh rupees. However, if the market is good, there is a possibility that it will increase to Tk 10 lakhs of strawberries.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Moha Shariful Islam said that strawberry is a popular fruit. Strawberries have many nutritional properties. Department of Agriculture is providing advice and comprehensive support to strawberry growers.
