Dhaka, Oct 02 (V7N): AHM Shafiquzzaman, Secretary to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, has expressed confidence that the unrest in the Readymade Garments (RMG) sector, particularly the dissatisfaction among workers, will be resolved soon. He reassured that the situation is being closely monitored.

“We are all keeping an eye on the issues related to the garment workers’ dissatisfaction,” Shafiquzzaman stated while addressing a media query following an event at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday.

The secretary was speaking at a reception ceremony honoring the champion and runner-up participants of a debate competition centered on the "Prevention of Child Labor."

When asked about the workers' road blockade in Ashulia, he emphasized: "We are addressing the situation comprehensively. Both the home affairs adviser and I are monitoring the overall law and order situation in the area."

He reiterated the government's dedication to sustaining the country’s economy by maintaining necessary production levels and emphasized that discussions between factory owners and workers will help resolve the ongoing issues.

On the topic of child labor, Shafiquzzaman highlighted the government's commitment to reducing it to 'zero' and confirmed that ongoing dialogues are part of this effort.
