Dhaka, Oct 13 (V7N): Bangladesh and the United States have engaged in discussions to boost cooperation in combating corruption, addressing money laundering, and recovering stolen assets.

The meeting between Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin and US Acting Coordinator for Global Anti-Corruption Shelby Smith-Wilson took place in Washington DC, as per a message received in Dhaka today.

The talks also explored technical support for reforms, the Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) treaty, and ways to enhance the sharing of expertise across vital sectors. Special focus was placed on improving procurement systems, law enforcement, the judiciary, and media engagement, highlighting a mutual dedication to transparency and good governance.

The foreign secretary's US visit follows his trip to New York, and he is set to depart from Washington on October 14.
