Dhaka, Oct 16 (V7N) – The Cabinet Division has issued a circular announcing the cancellation of eight national days, including the historic March 7 and August 15 , which is observed as Bangabandhu's death anniversary and National Mourning Day . The circular, issued on Wednesday, October 16, outlines the decision and its immediate implementation.

The canceled days include:

1. August 15 – Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's death anniversary and National Mourning Day.
2. March 7 – The day of Bangabandhu’s historic speech in 1971.
3. March 17 – Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birthday and Children's Day.
4. August 5 – Birth anniversary of Sheikh Hasina's brother, Captain Sheikh Kamal.
5. August 8 – Birth anniversary of Sheikh Hasina's mother, Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib.
6. October 18 – Sheikh Russell Day, marking the birth anniversary of Sheikh Hasina's younger brother.
7. November 4 – National Constitution Day.
8. December 12 – Smart Bangladesh Day.

The circular also mentioned that the High Court had ordered the cancellation of the National Mourning Day observance on August 15 , and all relevant ministries and departments have been instructed to comply with the cancellation of these days.

This decision followed a discussion within the advisory council and was shared through the verified Facebook page of the interim government’s Chief Adviser earlier on the same day.
