Dhaka, Oct 20 (V7N) – The United States Embassy's Pacific Augmentation Team (PAT) donated crucial Swift Water Rescue and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) protection equipment to the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) today, reinforcing the ongoing partnership between the two nations.

According to a press release, the donation includes eight boats, 110 life vests, and various rescue tools designed to improve the FSCD's ability to respond effectively to natural disasters. Additionally, medical and HAZMAT gear, such as 120 disposable coveralls and 100 medical bags, were provided to enhance first responders' ability to address emergencies involving hazardous substances.

"This donation underscores our enduring partnership and shared commitment to enhancing disaster response and saving lives," said Megan Bouldin, deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy.

Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, director general of FSCD, presided over the event, highlighting the significance of the donation in improving the FSCD's readiness for emergency situations, which will ultimately help save lives nationwide.

The PAT and FSCD have been collaborating for over five years, conducting medical first responder seminars and other training sessions. The US Embassy remains committed to strengthening resilience and disaster response capabilities in Bangladesh.
