Dhaka, Oct 21 (V7N)- The Ministry of Finance has announced new appointments for Managing Directors (MD) in 10 state-owned banks across Bangladesh. The appointments include six state-owned commercial banks and four specialized banks. This reshuffle comes as part of the government's efforts to strengthen the management of these financial institutions.

In a notification issued by the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on Monday, the following appointments were made:

State-Owned Commercial Banks:
1. Sonali Bank: Shaukat Ali Khan, previously MD of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, has been appointed as the new MD and CEO.
2. Janata Bank: Mujibur Rahman, former MD of Pravasi Kalyan Bank, has been appointed as MD and CEO.
3. Agrani Bank: Anwarul Islam, former Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the bank, has been promoted to MD and CEO.
4. Rupali Bank: A. Rahim, previously DMD of Rajshahi Agricultural Development Bank, is the new MD and CEO.
5. Bangladesh Parliament Bank: Jasim Uddin, former DMD of Janata Bank, has been appointed as MD and CEO.
6. Basic Bank: Kamruzzaman, another former DMD of Janata Bank, has taken over as MD and CEO.

Specialized State-Owned Banks:
1. Ansar-VDP Development Bank: Mir Mofazzal Hossain, previously DMD of Sonali Bank, has been promoted to MD.
2. Palli Accumik Bank: Salma Banu, former DMD of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, has been appointed as MD.
3. Bangladesh Krishi Bank: Sanchita Binte Ali, previously DMD of Sonali Bank, has been promoted to MD.
4. Pravasi Kalyan Bank: Chanu Gopal Ghosh, previously DMD of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, has been promoted to MD.

This wave of new appointments is aimed at improving the governance and operational efficiency of these financial institutions. The government hopes that the newly appointed MDs will help steer these banks towards better financial health and service delivery.

The appointments are both contractual and promotional, with several MDs coming from within the ranks of their respective banks, ensuring continuity in leadership.
