Dhaka, Oct 21 (V7N) – Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus emphasized the crucial role of digitisation in combating corruption during a meeting with senior government officials on Monday.

The meeting, held at the State Guest House Jamuna, focused on immediate actions to accelerate digital adoption across various sectors. Key outcomes included the decision to mandate the submission of tax returns via the e-return portal for all government officials within the greater Dhaka region. Large corporations are also being encouraged to implement e-return systems across their operations.

Additionally, the meeting resolved to launch a nationwide awareness campaign promoting digitisation. A renewed focus was placed on enhancing the investment climate by digitising the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and advancing the National Single Window project.

Further decisions were made to ensure system interconnectivity across government organizations, with a comprehensive digitisation roadmap and execution timeline for land-related public services being prioritized.

Among the attendees were Md. Siraj Uddin Mia, principal secretary to the Chief Adviser; Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, chairman of NBR; ASM Saleh Ahmed, senior secretary of the Ministry of Land; and Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
