Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N)- Passengers at Dhaka's Kamalapur railway station faced prolonged delays and cancellations on Saturday due to an ongoing schedule crisis following Thursday's derailment of the Panchagarh Express. Although the derailed train carriage was recovered, damage to the station’s signal system has yet to be fully repaired, causing trains to depart three to three and a half hours behind schedule.

In light of the situation, authorities canceled the Sylhet-bound Jayantika Express and the Jamalpur-bound Agniveena Express, announcing the decision at approximately 11 a.m. Passengers with canceled tickets have been informed that refunds will be processed accordingly.

The derailment incident, which occurred near Kamalapur station late Thursday night, has significantly disrupted schedules, with passengers expressing frustration over delays and what they described as inadequate station management. Additionally, many have voiced concerns about the condition of the railway line, which they claim has been neglected due to ongoing renovations.

The railway authority has responded to the derailment by forming an inquiry committee to investigate the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
