Dhaka, Nov 14 (V7N) - The Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Health, Dr. Sayedur Rahman, announced on Thursday that individuals injured during the July movement will receive unique ID cards, ensuring lifetime access to free medical treatment. The process is expected to conclude by December, with a formal plan to be outlined in the coming five days.

In a meeting at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare attended by six advisers and injured students, Dr. Sayedur stated, "Injured freedom fighters will be issued unique ID cards granting them free medical services across all government healthcare facilities. They will also be eligible for free treatment at select private hospitals with government agreements."

Dr. Sayedur further explained that a support center, operational from November 17, will be set up to address various needs of the injured. Additionally, designated hospital beds in government facilities will be connected through a unified network across Dhaka.

The meeting, originally scheduled for 2 p.m., commenced two and a half hours late due to logistical issues among advisers. The announcement came in response to a demonstration held on Wednesday at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) in Agargaon, where injured protesters blocked roads for twelve hours, demanding improved medical treatment and financial support.

The protest concluded after four advisers assured the injured that their concerns would be addressed, leading to the announcement of free lifetime medical care.
