DHAKA, Nov 29, (V7N) - Education Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud has issued a set of six directives to vice-chancellors of all public and private universities, urging steps to ensure discipline and avoid disruptions caused by political tension on campuses. The directives, outlined in a letter, aim to safeguard the academic environment while addressing concerns over recent student protests and incidents of mob justice.

The directives include organizing workshops, seminars, and extracurricular activities to raise awareness about peace and discipline among students. These initiatives aim to instill respect for the law and discourage the creation of politically charged situations. Students are also to be informed of the dangers of mob justice and its consequences.

The adviser instructed university administrations to deploy adequate security personnel and implement effective monitoring systems at campus entry and exit points. Close collaboration with local law enforcement agencies and prompt action in cases of violence or illegal behavior were also emphasized.

To prevent disruption of the learning environment, universities were advised to reschedule classes if necessary and take administrative decisions to address unwanted incidents. Regular monitoring of campus conditions and periodic reporting to the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) were recommended as part of the measures to maintain a conducive academic atmosphere.

In his letter, Wahiduddin Mahmud expressed confidence in the leadership of vice-chancellors to restore peace and order on campuses. He emphasized the importance of fostering coordination among students, administrators, and faculty to ensure uninterrupted educational activities.
