Dhaka, Nov 29 (V7N)– Chinmoy Krishna Das has been arrested on clear allegations, with a case pending against him, said Mahfuz Alam, an advisor to the interim government, during a press conference held Thursday evening. He emphasized that the matter is now under the jurisdiction of the court, which will determine the outcome.
Mahfuz Alam highlighted the government's efforts to thwart attempts at creating communal unrest, stating, “The people of the country have united to stop the efforts of those trying to disrupt communal harmony.” He reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring such incidents do not occur in the future.
Addressing the death of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chittagong, Alam confirmed that the government is taking strong steps to bring those responsible to justice. He noted that two cases have already been filed and more are expected as investigations proceed.
The advisor acknowledged a meeting between BNP leaders and the Chief Advisor, during which cooperation to preserve national unity and sovereignty was discussed. He stated, “Political parties have made positive proposals to the government and expressed their willingness to cooperate to maintain stability and prevent extremism.”
The government is closely monitoring both the ISKCON controversy and the attack on a shrine, assuring that comprehensive measures are being taken to address all potential sources of unrest.
Another government advisor, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, clarified that the government does not intend to implicate entire organizations for the actions of individuals. Referring to a recent car accident involving Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah, she assured that the matter is being taken seriously, with no scope for negligence.
The interim government reiterated its commitment to preserving communal harmony and ensuring justice for all. Stakeholders from various sectors, including political parties and religious groups, are being engaged to maintain peace and stability in the country.
