Khulna, Dec 09 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor (retired) Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has instructed law enforcement agencies to refrain from making arrests in plain clothes. The directive was issued during a meeting with government officials, including members of the district police, BGB, and fire service, held at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Khulna on Monday morning.

Addressing concerns over rising incidents of mob violence, the Home Advisor emphasized the importance of handing over criminals to the police instead of resorting to vigilantism. "Mob acts and murders are occurring in many places. Taking the law into one’s own hands only exacerbates the problem," he warned, adding that strict measures would be taken against individuals filing false cases.

Lieutenant General Chowdhury also underscored the need for impartiality within law enforcement, stating, "There is no room for extra benefits to any political party. Establishing good governance requires neutrality and an end to the culture of currying favour."

He further highlighted concerns about weapons looted from police stations during past incidents. "Many of these stolen weapons remain unrecovered, and retrieving them is essential to restoring law and order," he stated.

The Home Advisor concluded by urging law enforcement to focus on building public trust through professionalism and adherence to the rule of law.
