Dhaka, Dec 13 (V7N)- The Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has expressed profound grief over the passing of renowned poet Helal Hafiz, describing his death as an irreparable loss to Bengali literature.
In a condolence message issued on Friday, Dr. Yunus said that the death of Helal Hafiz, a poet of rebellion and love, marks a great loss for the Bengali language and literary world. He praised Hafiz as a powerful voice for youth and a courageous critic of dictatorship, adding that his works will forever be cherished in the hearts of the people.
The Chief Advisor extended his condolences to the poet's bereaved family and wished him eternal peace in the afterlife.
Earlier, Helal Hafiz tragically fell in the bathroom of his residence at Super Home in Shahbagh, Dhaka, around noon on Friday, sustaining fatal injuries. He was immediately taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital, where he was declared dead. The poet was 76 years old.
Hafiz had been battling several health issues, including glaucoma, kidney complications, diabetes, and neurological disorders, for many years.
His passing has left a deep void in the world of Bangla literature, and his memory will continue to inspire future generations.
