Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N)- The Interim Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ideals of the martyred intellectuals and their vision of building a prosperous nation. Speaking at the Martyred Intellectuals' Memorial in Mirpur on Saturday, Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Islam emphasized that the new Bangladesh envisioned under Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is rooted in the dreams of those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
"The new Bangladesh we dream of, and the one Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is determined to build, carries forward the vision of the martyred intellectuals. As Dr. Yunus's team, we are steadfast in upholding their ideals," Shafiqul Islam said after paying homage to the nation’s best sons.
Criticizing the ruling Awami League, Shafiqul Islam accused the party of repeating the same oppression and tactics as those employed by the Pakistani occupying forces in 1971. "The same patterns of repression were seen in July, reflecting actions reminiscent of the 1971 atrocities," he added, drawing a sharp comparison to the country's turbulent history.
The Interim Government has been advocating for reforms and a renewed focus on democracy, human rights, and accountability. Shafiqul Islam's remarks reflect their ongoing efforts to align their governance with the aspirations of the nation’s fallen heroes.
