Joydevpur, Dec 15 (V7N) — To enhance connectivity between Dhaka and Joydevpur, four new pairs of commuter trains were officially inaugurated on Sunday morning by Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Railways. The launch ceremony took place at Joydevpur Station, which was bustling with excited passengers eager to experience the new services.
Addressing the gathering, the railway advisor emphasized that this initiative caters primarily to the needs of low-income individuals, aiming to make daily commuting more accessible and affordable. Following the inauguration, he boarded a commuter train and traveled to Dhirashram Station to mark the occasion.
Train Schedule Highlights
The newly launched services, as detailed in a notification issued on Thursday, are as follows:
Turag Commuter-1: Departs Dhaka at 5:00 am, reaching Joydevpur at 6:00 am, with stops at Airport and Tongi stations.
Joydevpur Commuter-1: Leaves Dhaka at 5:25 am, arriving at Joydevpur at 6:25 am, stopping at Tejgaon, Airport, and Tongi stations.
Joydevpur Commuter-3: Departs Dhaka at 11:00 am, reaching Joydevpur at 12:00 pm, stopping at Tejgaon, Banani, Airport, and Tongi stations.
Turag Commuter-3: Leaves Dhaka at 5:20 pm, reaching Joydevpur at 5:40 pm, stopping at Tejgaon, Banani, Airport, Tongi, and Dhirashram stations.
Turag Commuter-2: Departs Joydevpur at 6:30 am, arriving in Dhaka at 7:40 am, stopping at Tejgaon, Banani, Airport, Tongi, and Dhirashram stations.
Joydevpur Commuter-2: Leaves Joydevpur at 7:10 am, reaching Dhaka at 8:25 am, stopping at Tejgaon, Banani, Airport, and Tongi stations.
Joydevpur Commuter-4: Departs Joydevpur at 12:30 pm, reaching Dhaka at 1:40 pm, stopping at Tejgaon, Banani, Airport, and Tongi stations.
Turag Commuter-4: Leaves Joydevpur at 9:45 pm, arriving in Dhaka at 11:15 pm, stopping at Tejgaon, Airport, and Tongi stations.
The railway advisor also announced plans to extend commuter train services to the Dhaka-Narsingdi and Dhaka-Narayanganj routes by March 26, further enhancing the railway network.
Passengers expressed their enthusiasm, noting that these trains would significantly improve connectivity between Gazipur and the capital, reducing travel time and easing daily commutes.
This initiative is part of the government's broader effort to improve public transport and reduce the burden on Dhaka's road traffic.
