Dhaka, Dec 15 (V7N) –Food Adviser Ali Imam Majumder on Sunday instructed the deputy commissioners and food officers of the Rangpur division to ensure the timely procurement of Aman rice.
He said: "This year, the Aman procurement target in Nilphamari will exceed expectations. The Aman rice procurement program will be completed within the stipulated time."
He made these comments during a briefing to journalists at a discussion meeting held at the Nilphamari Circuit House.
The adviser said: "Considering the farmers' profit, the price of Aman rice has been increased by Tk3 per kilogram. Additionally, the government plans to establish a Central Food Storage Depot (CSD) in the Rangpur region."
The meeting, chaired by Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Shahidul Islam, was attended by the district commissioners and food officers of the eight districts in the Rangpur division, as well as the Director-General of the Department of Food, Md Abdul Khaleque.
