Dhaka, Dec 17 (V7N) — Religious Affairs Advisor Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain has accused the Awami League of suppressing multi-party democracy and destroying the electoral system in the country. He made these remarks during a discussion meeting organized by the Islamic Foundation at Agargaon in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.

"The Awami League has buried multi-party democracy by brutally suppressing opposition views," he said. "The election system, which even functioned during the Pakistan period, has now been completely destroyed under their rule."

Dr. Khalid Hossain emphasized that a united populace is essential to establishing an independent, sovereign, and welfare-oriented state. "If the people of the country come together, we can move forward and realize our collective dreams," he added.

Highlighting issues in the financial sector, he accused the ruling party of enabling large-scale corruption. "The country's banks have been looted, and the banking sector has been completely destroyed. Basic rights have been stripped away from the people," he asserted.

Regarding the Islamic Foundation, Dr. Hossain criticized the political appointments of Directors General, claiming that such decisions have fostered corruption and irregularities. He urged the officials and employees of the Foundation to maintain professionalism and refrain from engaging in political activities.

The advisor concluded by calling on the nation to remain united to bring about meaningful progress and restore people's rights.
