RAB expressed doubts about the identities provided by the robbers and said that the matter is being thoroughly investigated.
Earlier in the day, three members of the robbery gang entered a branch of Rupali Bank in Keraniganj.
They held 12 people, including customers and staff, at gunpoint.
Locals alerted the police, and soon the police, RAB, and army personnel surrounded the bank building.
A large crowd gathered at the scene. The robbers demanded a "safe exit" in exchange for releasing the hostages.
