Dhaka, Dec 20 (V7N) — Principal Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of Hasan Arif, Advisor to the Ministry of Land, Civil Aviation, and Tourism.

Advisor Hasan Arif passed away at the age of 83 from a heart attack at LabAid Hospital in Dhanmondi on Friday afternoon. Dr. Yunus, upon learning of the news shortly after landing in Dhaka from Dubai, immediately rushed to the hospital to pay his respects to the late advisor.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Dr. Yunus stated, "I am deeply saddened by his sudden death. Advisor Hasan Arif was a distinguished lawyer who played a significant role in the interim government."

Hasan Arif, a former Attorney General of Bangladesh, had a storied career in the legal profession. He served as the legal advisor to the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed from 2008 to January 2009, earning widespread respect for his expertise and dedication.

The Principal Advisor paid tribute to Hasan Arif's legacy, saying, "He will be remembered as a brilliant lawyer and for his active role in protecting the human rights of dissenters, dissenting voices, and marginalized people in our society."

Dr. Yunus extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul, honouring Hasan Arif's decades of public service and his commitment to justice.

The nation mourns the loss of an esteemed legal luminary whose contributions will be cherished for generations to come.
