Gazipur, Dec 29 (V7N) — Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Dr. Iftekharuzzaman emphasised the importance of maintaining professional standards and unity among journalists during the closing ceremony of a three-day 'Workshop on Data Journalism.' The event, organised by TIB, was held at BCDM in Rajendrapur, Gazipur, on Saturday.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman stated, "There can be differences of opinion, but in the professional sphere, everyone must remain united. There cannot be any compromise in terms of professional standards."
He further advised journalists to base their work on facts, saying, "Whatever we write should be based on facts. We should not compromise. Once we compromise, we have to do it for the rest of our lives. Offense is the best defense. We have to be united in our professional lives."
Dr. Iftekharuzzaman assured that TIB would continue to support the media and acknowledged the challenges journalists face in their work. "The work we do is always challenging and difficult. But now there are more opportunities to work than before. What is happening now can be better in the future, but it can also be worse," he noted.
The workshop was attended by 25 journalists from various media outlets across the country, aiming to enhance their skills in data journalism and strengthen their ability to report on critical issues with accuracy and integrity.
