The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported on Thursday that a mild cold wave is affecting certain regions of the country and is expected to spread.
According to the weather bulletin, the cold wave is currently sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Panchagarh, and Chuadanga. Night temperatures are predicted to decrease by 1-2°C, while day temperatures may increase by 2-3°C.
The weather is expected to remain dry with a partly cloudy sky across the country.
The lowest temperature recorded on Thursday was 9.1°C in Badalgachhi, Rajshahi, while the highest temperature was 28.6°C in Teknaf on Wednesday.
Weather Patterns Behind the Cold Wave
The ridge of the sub-continental high-pressure system extends into West Bengal and adjacent areas of western Bangladesh, contributing to the current weather conditions. Meanwhile, a seasonal low over the South Bay has extended its trough to the North Bay, influencing regional weather dynamics.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions as temperatures may continue to dip in the coming days.
