Dhaka, Jan 10 (V7N) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken significant steps to provide advanced medical treatment for those injured during the July-August 2024 student uprising. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, Director General and Spokesperson of the Public Diplomacy Division, announced at a weekly media briefing on Thursday that 11 injured individuals have already been sent abroad for treatment, with two returning to Bangladesh after successful recovery.

Efforts are underway to send 28 more people abroad for better treatment. Rafiqul Alam stated that expedited visa processing has been ensured for eight critically injured individuals and four of their family members between January 1 and 8, thanks to coordination with foreign missions in Dhaka.

“A comprehensive initiative is being implemented to ensure improved medical care for those injured during the 2024 mass uprising,” he said. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working closely with the Ministry of Health, Bangladeshi missions abroad, and foreign missions in Dhaka to streamline the process.

The Ministry of Health has provided essential medical documentation, financial support, and detailed reports to facilitate treatment. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has prioritized visa processing and ensured seamless communication with relevant foreign missions, which have offered their full cooperation.

Alam emphasized the combined efforts of foreign missions in Bangladesh and Bangladeshi embassies abroad, which have significantly accelerated the treatment process. He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the matter with the utmost priority and ensuring uninterrupted coordination to provide maximum support to the injured.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting those affected by the uprising and ensuring they receive the best possible care.
