Munshiganj, Jan 12 (V7N) — Home Ministry Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has called on journalists to expose corruption fearlessly, regardless of who is involved, including himself.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday afternoon after distributing agricultural machinery to farmers in Sirajdikhan Upazila, the advisor said, “No matter who commits corruption, spread the news against them. Even if I myself commit corruption, I will have to spread the news against me too.”
The event, part of Dhaka Bank's Social Responsibility Program, distributed 30 power tillers and 40 silage machines to 70 farmers. The program was attended by Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tul Jannat, Police Superintendent Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, and Dhaka Bank’s Founder Vice Chairman A.T.M. Hayatuzzaman Khan, among others.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury praised Bangladeshi journalists for countering international propaganda by spreading factual news. Highlighting corruption as Bangladesh's biggest problem, he said, “Media can play a major role in curbing corruption among government officials and employees. Similarly, political party leaders can also be warned about corruption.”
Addressing a recent case involving the alleged kidnapping of a Jubo Dal leader, the advisor assured that justice would be served, stating, “No one will be spared, regardless of the party involved.” He confirmed that four arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
The event emphasized empowering farmers through access to modern agricultural tools. Officials present included Agriculture Extension Department Deputy Director Biplob Kumar Mohant, Sirajdikhan Upazila Executive Officer Shahina Akhter, and Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Abu Sayeed Shuvro.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to support agriculture and combat corruption in Bangladesh.
