Zurich, Jan 21 (V7N) — Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has arrived in Switzerland to participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The Emirates Airlines flight carrying Dr. Yunus landed at Zurich Airport at 5:25 PM Bangladesh time on Tuesday.
Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Bangladesh's resident representative in Switzerland, Tarek Md. Ariful Alam.
Dr. Yunus, along with his entourage, departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, at 1 AM on Monday. During his visit, the Chief Advisor is scheduled to engage in high-profile bilateral talks with several world leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Finnish President Alexander Stubbs, Belgian King Philippe, and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
He will also hold discussions with prominent global figures, such as Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank; Sir Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at the Met Office; Dr. Agnes Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International; and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
A dedicated dialogue on Bangladesh is also planned at the WEF, with participation from global business leaders and CEOs of international organizations, highlighting Bangladesh's progress and opportunities.
Dr. Yunus is expected to return to Dhaka on January 25, concluding his four-day official visit.
