Dhaka, Jan 24 (V7N) – Professor Asif Nazrul, the Law and Justice Advisor to Bangladesh's interim government, has strongly condemned the spread of rumors on social media, urging the public not to believe such baseless claims.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday, Nazrul wrote, "Rumors are being spread like crazy. Don't listen to them. We are all fine. We are in our respective places. Alhamdulillah."

The statement came amidst a surge of misleading information circulating online since Thursday night, alleging instability within the interim government. Rumors included claims that advisors had fled, the Chief Advisor had resigned, and that the military was preparing to take control of the government.

Nazrul highlighted that many of these false narratives appear to originate from social media pages linked to the Awami League and its affiliates. He emphasized that such misinformation is not only harmful but also baseless, calling on citizens to rely on verified sources for information.

The interim government, formed to address political and electoral challenges, has faced increasing scrutiny and misinformation campaigns in recent months. Nazrul’s statement aims to reassure the public of the government’s stability and commitment to carrying out its duties.

The advisor’s appeal underscores the need for vigilance against fake news and the importance of fostering trust in credible information during this transitional period.
