Mohammed Shahabuddin, the president of Bangladesh, departed early today to have a health examination in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United Kingdom (UK).

At 1:15 a.m. today, a normal Emirates Airlines aircraft (Flight No. EK-585) carrying the President and his entourage departed from the Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport.

Minister of Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque was seen off at the airport's VVIP Lounge by high-ranking members of the military and civil society, the prime minister's principal secretary, the chiefs of the three services, the British high commissioner to Bangladesh, the UAE ambassador in Bangladesh, the cabinet secretary, and the inspector general of police (IGP).

The President is being accompanied by his spouse, Dr. Rebeka Sultana, and representatives from the Bangabhaban for his medical examination.
On March 13, the President is anticipated to come home, a Bangabhaban official said.
