In anticipation of the January 7 national election, the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) has established a "central monitoring and co-ordination cell" to handle any incident, including violence and fire.

The media cell of the FSCD headquarters, according to Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector, would cooperate with the central control room of the organisation and gather accident reports from all over the nation, including Dhaka.

All officials and staff members of fire stations nationwide have had their leaves cancelled, and as a result, they have been placed on standby duty per the order of Brig Gen Md Main Uddin, the director general of FSCD.

According to him, orders have also been issued to take the required actions in conjunction with the local government to address the emergency during the election.

The fire department has also requested trained volunteers to be prepared in addition to firefighters. The warehouse inspector stated that all firefighting and rescue apparatus, including the necessary quantity of ambulances, have been maintained ready.

The FSCD will provide services around-the-clock to safeguard people's lives and property throughout the nation.
