During the opening ceremony of the 'District Administrators Conference 2024' held at the Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stressed the importance of ensuring consumers' welfare, particularly during the upcoming month of Ramadan. She cautioned against unscrupulous traders who seek to exploit the season by inflating prices through hoarding goods.
PM Hasina underscored the need for vigilant monitoring of market dynamics to prevent harassment of consumers and emphasized the importance of increasing domestic production to reduce dependency on imports. She acknowledged the challenges posed by external factors such as the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the lingering impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global economy.
Reflecting on the successful conduct of the recent elections, PM Hasina commended the District Commissioners for their adherence to pre-election directives, ensuring a fair and impartial electoral process. She highlighted the significance of democratic participation, particularly among women and youth at the grassroots level.
Addressing the issue of rising teenage gang activities, PM Hasina called for collective efforts from parents, teachers, and authorities to address the root causes and increase vigilance in educational institutions. She emphasized the importance of proactive measures to prevent youth involvement in criminal activities, urging a holistic approach to tackle the problem effectively.
The conference was attended by Minister of Public Administration Farhad Hossain, Chief Secretary to Prime Minister Tofazzal Hossain Mia, and various District Commissioners including Md.
