In a recent address marking the 20th founding anniversary of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized the need for heightened actions against food hoarding and the circulation of counterfeit currencies, especially with Ramadan and Eid approaching. She urged RAB to take stern legal measures against militancy, terrorism, drug abuse, and gang culture among teenagers.
Addressing the issue of food hoarding, the Prime Minister expressed concern over unethical practices by some traders, who exploit the demand surge during Ramadan. She stressed the importance of curbing such activities, highlighting the significance of self-restraint during the holy month.
Furthermore, Sheikh Hasina underscored the rise in fake currency circulation before Eid and urged RAB to enhance surveillance to counter this menace effectively.
The Prime Minister commended RAB personnel for their efforts and urged them to continue their drives against counterfeit currencies. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan also addressed the function, emphasizing the importance of RAB's role in maintaining law and order.
The event included a video documentary showcasing RAB's activities, and upon her arrival, the Prime Minister was accorded a guard of honor.
