Dhaka, April 20 (V7N)- Christians in Bangladesh and around the world are celebrating Easter Sunday, one of the most sacred religious festivals of the Christian faith, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The day is observed with deep spiritual significance, marked by prayers, gatherings, and messages of peace and harmony.

According to Christian belief, Jesus Christ conquered death and rose from the grave on this day, three days after being crucified on Good Friday by the then Jewish rulers. His resurrection symbolizes victory over sin and death, offering redemption to humankind.

In Bangladesh, the day began with special morning prayers at churches across the country. At the Dhaka Regional Baptist Church in Mirpur-10, Christians gathered early in the morning to offer prayers, sing hymns, read passages from the Bible, and receive blessings.

Special services and prayer meetings were also held at prominent churches, including the Catholic Church Missions in Kakrail and Tejgaon, where large congregations participated in the observances with reverence.

On this solemn occasion, Bangladesh Christian Association President Nirmal Rosario and Secretary General Hemant I. Kodaiya issued a joint statement, extending warm greetings to Christian communities worldwide and to the people of Bangladesh. They expressed their hope that the spirit of Easter Sunday will inspire unity, compassion, and global brotherhood.

“In today’s challenging global context, the message of Easter—resurrection, hope, and renewal—can play a vital role in fostering peace and harmony among all,” the statement read.

Easter Sunday, also known as the Day of Resurrection, is a celebration of joy, rebirth, and unwavering faith, and Christians continue to honor it through worship and acts of goodwill.
