Dhaka, Apr 20 (V7N)- The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 16 major development projects involving an estimated cost of Tk 24,247.24 crore.

The approval came during the ECNEC meeting held on Sunday at the NEC conference room of the Planning Commission, chaired by Principal Advisor and ECNEC Chairperson Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Of the total project cost:

  • Government funding amounts to Tk 3,101.34 crore

  • Project loans account for Tk 16,719.73 crore

  • Organizational (own) funding is Tk 4,426.17 crore

A number of top-level government advisors were present at the meeting, including:

  • Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud

  • Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul

  • Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain

  • Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury

  • Industry and Housing & Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan

  • Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan

  • Shipping and Labor & Employment Advisor Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain

  • Social Welfare and Women & Children Affairs Advisor Sharmin S Murshid

  • Environment, Forest and Climate Change Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan

  • Education Advisor Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar

Several concerned ministry officials also participated in the session.

The approval of these projects is expected to significantly boost development across sectors, with a strong focus on infrastructure, energy, and social welfare, aligning with the government’s long-term national development goals.
