Doha, Apr 22 (V7N)- Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, arrived in Doha, Qatar, on Monday night for a four-day official visit to attend the high-level ‘Arthana Summit-2025’.

Dr. Yunus landed at Hamad International Airport at 9:40 pm local time, where he was greeted with a red carpet welcome by Qatar’s Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Ibrahim Fakhru. Also present at the airport was Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar, Md. Nazrul Islam, who formally received the Principal Advisor.

According to Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, the Chief Advisor’s visit reflects Bangladesh’s commitment to global cooperation on sustainability, innovation, and climate action.

This year’s summit, to be held on April 22 and 23, carries the theme:
“Building Our Legacy: Sustainability, Innovation and Traditional Knowledge.”

The Arthana Summit brings together local and global leaders, including heads of state, innovators, academics, and environmental experts to discuss pressing global challenges, particularly the climate crisis. Dr. Yunus is expected to deliver a keynote speech, highlighting Bangladesh’s role in advancing social business, green innovation, and sustainable development.

During the visit, Dr. Yunus is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties, as well as exploring opportunities for cooperation in climate action, sustainable finance, education, and healthcare.

The visit marks an important diplomatic engagement, reinforcing Bangladesh’s active presence in global sustainability dialogues and its enduring ties with the Gulf nation.
