Dhaka, Apr 27 (V7N) — The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) has called for the upcoming 13th National Assembly elections in Bangladesh to be inclusive, free, fair, and impartial.
Lina Rikhila Tamang, IDEA’s Asia-Pacific Regional Director, made these remarks on Sunday morning (April 27) after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.
Speaking to reporters, Tamang said the meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming elections. She added that the Chief Election Commissioner briefed her on the progress of ongoing electoral reforms, emphasizing the commission’s responsibility to hold elections that reflect the aspirations of the people.
Expressing optimism, Tamang said she hopes that democracy in Bangladesh will be strengthened and re-established through the upcoming electoral process.
