Dhaka, May 12 (V7N) – The interim government has formed an investigation committee to probe the recent departure of former President Abdul Hamid from the country. The move follows questions surrounding how the former head of state traveled abroad through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on May 7, reportedly without sufficient oversight or clearance.

The committee is chaired by Education Advisor Professor CR Abrar. Other members include Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping and Labor and Employment M Sakhawat Hossain, according to an official statement from the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor’s Office.

The committee has been tasked with reviewing the following:

  • The process and circumstances through which Abdul Hamid traveled abroad;

  • Whether there was any deviation or negligence in the duties of the authorities involved;

  • Identification of the officials responsible for any failure in carrying out their duties;

  • And providing recommendations for appropriate action.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within the next 15 days.

To carry out its mandate, the committee is authorized to:

  • Request documents, evidence, and equipment;

  • Interview relevant individuals;

  • Co-opt additional members if needed.

The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs will provide secretarial and logistical support to the committee.

All government and related institutions have been instructed to cooperate fully with the investigation.
