Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun declared a stern stance against extortion in all sectors, particularly in the transportation of goods, emphasizing that no form of extortion would be tolerated. He pledged strict action against any instances of extortion, urging police officers to fulfill their duties diligently to regulate commodity prices.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting addressing law and order, security, and traffic management at Police Headquarters, the IGP highlighted the importance of market surveillance and ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles carrying goods. He emphasized the need for vigilance to prevent any disturbances before Ramadan and Eid, urging officials to stay alert against potential disruptions to communal harmony, particularly through misinformation and propaganda online.

Furthermore, the IGP instructed various police units, including highway police and district police, to make preparations for facilitating safe travel for homebound individuals during Eid-ul-Fitr. He also directed highway police to enforce regulations preventing passengers from traveling on the roofs of buses or trucks.

In light of the upcoming Ramadan activities such as Iftar, Tarabi, and Sehri, the IGP urged all personnel to remain cautious and vigilant while carrying out their duties.
