Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid respects to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on his 104th birth anniversary, coinciding with National Children's Day-2024.

As part of the official program, the Prime Minister laid a wreath at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi 32 early in the morning. She observed a moment of silence after laying the wreath, showing deep respect for the country's founding father.

Sheikh Rehana, the Prime Minister's younger sister, accompanied her during the homage ceremony. A guard of honor was presented by contingents from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Additionally, a prayer was offered for the souls of the martyrs of the August 15 carnage.

Later, accompanied by senior Awami League leaders, Sheikh Hasina placed another wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait on behalf of her party.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Tungipara, Gopalganj, to pay respects to Bangabandhu along with President Mohammed Shahabuddin, where they will lay wreaths at his mausoleum. Subsequently, she will attend a program commemorating the 104th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

Bangabandhu's birthday has been celebrated across the country as National Children's Day for many years. He was born on this day in 1920 in Tungipara village of Gopalganj sub-division, now district.
