Dhaka, Aug 02 (V7N) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has intensified security measures across the capital ahead of key political developments in August. Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam detailed these measures during a press conference held at the DMP Media Center on Saturday (August 2).
“We have taken extensive security precautions for all upcoming programs in August,” said DC Masud Alam. “Raids are ongoing in various residential hotels, homes of Awami League leaders, and slum areas to ensure peace and stability.”
As part of these operations, police have arrested 22 individuals from the Bhatara area in connection with the alleged training of Awami League activists. These arrests were made under the jurisdiction of Bhatara Police Station.
DC Masud Alam also reported progress in the high-profile Sohag murder case that occurred in front of Salimullah Medical College. “Two more suspects, Ruman Bypari and Abu Hossain, have been apprehended. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to 14,” he confirmed.
In a separate case, a man named Apu has been arrested on charges of extortion at the residence of a former Member of Parliament in Gulshan. Law enforcement recovered a motorcycle from his home in Dhanmondi, which was allegedly purchased using extorted money.
The Ramna Division emphasized that law enforcement remains on high alert and that any group attempting to destabilize the capital will face strict legal action.
