Dhaka, Aug 24 (V7N) – A bilateral meeting at the foreign ministerial level between Bangladesh and Pakistan commenced this morning (Sunday, August 24) at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.

The talks, led by Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid Hossain and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, are expected to cover a wide range of bilateral issues, including trade, investment, agriculture, and easing the movement of people between the two countries.

Officials said the two nations are likely to sign six agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) during the meeting, marking a possible step toward strengthening relations that have remained strained for decades.

Ishaq Dar arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit Saturday afternoon and was received at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Foreign Ministry Secretary Nazrul Islam. Later that day, he met with senior leaders of the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) at the Pakistan Embassy.

As part of his Dhaka itinerary, the Pakistani foreign minister is also scheduled to pay a visit to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her residence in Gulshan this evening.

The outcome of today’s ministerial-level discussions is expected to shed light on the future direction of Dhaka–Islamabad relations, particularly in the context of shifting regional diplomacy.
