Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N) – The European Union (EU) plans to send 150 observers to monitor Bangladesh’s upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, while the United Kingdom (UK) will provide training to election personnel.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between the EU, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Election Commission (EC) to formalize the observation mission.

The Election Commission, preparing for national elections scheduled in the first half of February 2026, is holding regular meetings with stakeholders and foreign diplomats to ensure a free, fair, and impartial election.

British High Commissioner Sarah Cook met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Monday morning and confirmed that the UK will provide training for election officials and civic education programs. She described the discussions as “fruitful” and reiterated the UK’s support for Bangladesh’s elections.

Later in the day, an EU delegation met EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed and other officials. The EU expressed its intention to send 150 representatives to observe the elections and emphasized its expectation of free, fair, and impartial polling.
