State Minister for Commerce, Ahasanul Islam Titu, announced that onions imported from India will be available for sale in Dhaka and Chittagong at Tk40 per kg soon. The announcement came after a meeting held at the Ministry of Commerce conference room on Sunday, where it was disclosed that the first shipment of 1,650 tons of onions from India is expected to arrive by Sunday night.

Highlighting the price comparison of various consumer goods between the first and 18th of Ramadan, the minister stated that prices have notably decreased in most cases. He also emphasized that there is an adequate stock of all products, indicating a favorable market situation in the foreseeable future.

To address the onion supply situation, the government has arranged to import 50,000 tons of onions from India, which will be brought in gradually. Currently, onions are being sold at a rate ranging from Tk60 to Tk65 per kg.
