Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N) — Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has instructed police officers at all levels to take strict action against extortion, robbery, and drug-related crimes, emphasizing that normal law and order must be maintained at all costs.
The directives were issued during a virtual meeting with heads of police units, Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs, and district police superintendents from Police Headquarters on Sunday afternoon.
The IGP highlighted that legal action must be taken against any individual involved in extortion, terrorism, or drug crimes, regardless of political affiliation. He also made it clear that activities of banned political parties will not be tolerated and any attempts to create chaos will be met with the law.
Focusing on highway security, the IGP ordered the Highway Police and district police units to prevent highway robberies, stressing that such crimes must be stopped under all circumstances.
Additional IGs and senior officials were present at the Police Headquarters during the briefing.
