Brahmanbaria, Feb 27 (V7N) — At least eight police personnel were injured when a police vehicle lost control and fell into a ditch while en route to provide a guard of honour to State Minister for Finance and Planning Jonayed Saki in Bancharampur.

The accident occurred Friday morning in the Velanagar area of Chayfullakandi Union, Bancharampur Upazila. Among the seriously injured were Nayek Jewel Mia and Constable Sharif. Others injured include Constables Mohiuddin, Mehedi Hasan, Zahir Raihan, Abdus Salam, Mainul Hasan, and ASI (AB) Nizam.

The injured were immediately rescued and taken to Bancharampur Upazila Health Complex, while the two seriously injured officers were transferred to Dhaka Central Police Hospital by ambulance for advanced treatment.

Nabinagar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Piyas Basak said the vehicle, dispatched from Brahmanbaria Police Lines, lost control while on its way to provide the guard of honour.

After Friday prayers, State Minister Jonayed Saki visited the police personnel at the health complex to check on their condition and instructed the authorities to ensure proper medical care for the injured.
