Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain announced today that the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation will consist of three days, starting from April 10. He made this statement during a press conference following the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister's Office.

Hossain clarified that offices will be open on April 8 and April 9, but individuals have the option to take casual leave if desired.

Initially, there was a recommendation from the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order to extend the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday by one day on April 9. However, the government decided to maintain the holiday duration as three days.

Additionally, the government has relaxed the conditions for receiving allowances for widows and abandoned women. Those with an annual income lower than Taka 15,000 will now be eligible for the allocation.

Furthermore, the Cabinet Division has given initial approval to the draft of the 'Widow and Husband-Deserted Women Allowance Scheme Implementation Policy-2024.' Currently, approximately 25.75 lakh women across the country are receiving these allowances.

The allocation will now be disbursed through the G2P (Government Direct to Person) system via mobile financial services. The Cabinet Division has also institutionalized online application and selection processes for the allowance.

Moreover, the Cabinet Division has approved the drafts of three bills: the 'Import and Export Act-2024,' the 'Payment and Settlement System Act-2024,' and the 'Foreign Voluntary Organizations (Regulation of Immovable Property Acquisition) Act-2024.' Additionally, the 'Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (Amendment) Act, 2024' draft has also been approved.
