Dhaka, Mar 06 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has confirmed that the country’s fuel oil stock is in a normal condition, urging the public not to panic amid circulating rumors of a shortage.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, BPC officials said that misinformation has led to some people collecting excess fuel, which could create an artificial crisis. The corporation appealed to consumers to purchase fuel based on actual needs rather than reacting to rumors.
BPC highlighted that regular imports are maintaining a stable supply, with adequate stocks available at various depots across the country. To ensure fair distribution, fuel sales at pumps have been capped: motorcycles – 5 liters, private cars – 20 to 25 liters, pickups or microbuses – 30 to 40 liters, and drums or containers – 200 to 250 liters.
The corporation also warned that legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to hoard fuel or create an artificial shortage. BPC called on all citizens and businesses to cooperate in maintaining the country’s energy supply and preventing unnecessary panic.
Officials stressed that the fuel market remains stable and that supply-demand conditions are under control, ensuring uninterrupted access for consumers.
