Dhaka, Mar 07 (V7N) – Salahuddin Ahmed, BNP standing committee member and Home Minister, said the party wants to move away from the “bad culture” of parliament as preparations continue for the first session of the 13th National Parliament.
Speaking after the second day of the BNP MPs’ training workshop on Saturday, Ahmed noted that for the first time, 219 of the 296 gazetted MPs are new members, though he did not provide an exact count of BNP representatives.
He stressed that new MPs must play their rightful role in parliament, adding, “That is why we have discussed among ourselves. We discuss and learn among ourselves.”
During the workshop, topics covered included Rules of Procedure, Parliamentary Practice, Conflict of Interest, and customs and conventions of the House, with a focus on understanding the Constitution and parliamentary processes.
Ahmed expressed confidence that the nation will be reassured by the conduct of future parliamentary sessions, saying, “They wanted to see such a parliament.”
