Dhaka, Mar 12 (V7N) – In the first session of the 13th National Parliament, Liberation War Affairs Minister Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram) was elected as Speaker, while State Minister for Lands Kaiser Kamal was elected as Deputy Speaker.
Parliament Speaker Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain announced that both posts received only one nomination each, and the proposals were unanimously approved in Parliament.
Earlier in the session, Parliament Leader and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman declared Dr. Mosharraf Hossain as acting President. Following this announcement, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Opposition Deputy Leader Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher expressed their full support on behalf of the opposition.
The election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker marks a key step in establishing the functioning leadership of Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliament.
