In a ceremony held at Shapla Hall, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the oath to the newly elected mayors of two city corporations, Tahsin Bahar Suchona for Comilla and Ekramul Haque Titu for Mymensingh, along with the chairmen of five Zila Parishads on Thursday morning.

The chairmen of the five Zila Parishads who took the oath are ANM Obaidur Rahman for Kurigram, Abdul Majid for Thakurgaon, Shamim Talukder for Sirajganj, Billal Miah for Brahmanbaria, and Aleya Akhter for Habiganj.

Subsequently, 44 newly elected councillors of general wards and female councillors of reserved seats from Mymensingh City Corporation also took the oath at the same venue.

Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam administered the oath to the councillors, with Muhammad Ibrahim, the Secretary of Local Government Division, conducting the ceremony.

Tahsin Bahar Suchona, the daughter of Comilla-6 MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar, secured victory in the by-polls held on March 9, becoming the first female mayor of Comilla City Corporation.

Similarly, Ekramul Haque Titu emerged victorious as the mayor in the Mymensingh city corporation election, also held on March 9.
